Warming Hearts and Lives

For Paul Robeson Elementary School students, every winter walk to school will be warm this season! On Thursday, Jan. 26, thanks to a generous donation from Operation Warm, a national non-profit that funds coat and sneaker projects, every Robeson student received a winter coat.

School staff members, district leadership, and Trenton Education Association officials collectively helped students find coats that were sized to fit and color to their liking. By the end of the distribution event, all children in kindergarten through third grade were sporting brand-new winter coats.

Providing students with access to critical resources, like winter coats, is essential to Paul Robeson Elementary School because they afford them more than physical warmth. Appropriate outerwear also gives students emotional warmth - the confidence of knowing they can travel back and forth to school without worrying about being cold. Ensuring the welfare of the whole child is a school and district goal. Building a sustained partnership with Operation Warm is a step toward achieving that objective.
